Lübeck City Hall, with its ornate facades, is one of the most beautiful city halls in Germany. Starting in 1230, three gabled houses were built, centrally located on the market square, which were extended several times in the following three centuries. This explains the different architectural styles of the building parts. Gothic and Renaissance in particular are represented here. The facades on the market square side impress with the large show wall, the bright Renaissance doves and the high spires. Inside, the magnificent audience hall, which formerly housed the Hanseatic High Court, is particularly impressive. The hall door by the Lübeck master Tönnies Evers the Elder from 1573 is from the Renaissance and shows, among other things, the judgment of Solomon. The saying above it in the official language of the time, Low German, "Beide part schal ein richter horen und den ordel" means: Both parties shall be heard by a judge and then judged."
